Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, I hope that you’ve had a lovely break and a merry Christmas.
2011 was the start of Vintography, although I have been interested in vintage style and photography for many years. Last year saw the development of our unique hen party event package with CharlestonDance, and I have had a lot of fun meeting and shooting groups of hens in their 1920s finery. A real highlight of the year for me was being able to shoot a hen party for Sian, and then photograph her wedding – it was lovely getting to know the happy couple during our planning sessions, and a beautiful wedding day.
I am very excited about our first booking of 2012 at the end of this month in Cheltenham, it promises to be a swell party!
If you’re thinking about arranging a unique party this year – for hens, a birthday or even a corporate do, then please do get in touch! We’d love to provide you with a roaring vintage experience to remember.

Darkroom Time Travel
Recently I have enjoyed the opportunity to get back into a darkroom as well as using my vintage medium format cameras again.
Spending time in the darkroom years ago triggered my passion for photography, and although digital cameras are a fantastic tool for professional photography, you really can’t beat the satisfying clunk of an antique shutter, the smell of the chemicals and the unpredictable results when the film is developed! It is so exciting to watch an image appear in the developing tank, and an achievement to complete the process from the click of the shutter.

This year I took my Kodak Duaflex on holiday to Cornwall and Venice. I just love the old fashioned feel of the photographs – from the tiny black spots where the film has been a little bit scuffed when I changed it onto an old spool to fit the camera, to the hazy focus and spots of dust. It’s like a little time machine, taking me back to the early days of photography.
I would really recommend an old box camera like this – you can find them quite cheaply in many old junk shops and Ebay. If you can respool a 120 film onto a 620 spool to fit the old camera you will get some wonderful old fashioned photographs. Some of the old box cameras even take 120 film, which you can still find in most camera shops – they will probably develop it for you as well if you don’t have access to a darkroom.
Happy snapping! If you do make your own vintage images I would love to see them – please post links below ;o)
Reading Vintage Fair!
I’m looking forward to taking part in this month’s Vintage Fair at Revolution in Reading on Sunday 27th November. This month the fair will rock with stalls selling lovely unique vintage clothes, jewellery, cakes and crockery. I will be there with my little studio to take some vintage style portraits – a truly unique Christmas gift! We will also have the wonderful Jo Stringer, make up artist – so come along and treat yourself to a makeover and portrait!
If you’re struggling to find the perfect dress for a Christmas party this is a great opportunity to pick up something unusual and lovely and you wont need to worry about wearing the same outfit as anyone else!
I hope to see you there, please drop by to say hello if you can
) The Fair is extended this month from 12-8pm so you can browse at leisure and perhaps treat yourself to dinner afterwards.
